ในวันนี้กล้องรุ่นใหม่ในชื่อ "Nikon D7000" ได้มีการเปิดตัว
ในตัวความสามารถก็ดูจะออกมาเป็นการขั้นกลาง หรืออาจจะเป็นการรวมกันของสาย DX (ชื่อเรียกเซ็นเซอร์ของกล้องตัวคูณของ Nikon) ระหว่าง Nikon D90 และ Nikon D300s ก็เป็นได้ และแน่นอนว่าเป็นแค่บทวิเคราะห์เท่านั้น เพราะยังไม่มีข่าวใดๆ ออกมาว่าจะมีตัวแทนของ Nikon D300s หรือไม่ แต่จากการคาดการณ์คงจะมีเป็น Nikon D9000 มากกว่า เนื่องจากในกล้องระดับบนของสาย DX นั้นใช้ระบบโฟกัสแบบ 51 จุด ซึ่งมากกว่า Nikon D7000 และคาดว่า Nikon คงไม่ทิ้งระบบโฟกัส 51 จุดของสาย DX ที่ตัวเองมีอยู่แน่นอน
